Visitors and volunteers are welcome at our school. In order to ensure safety and protect our children and staff, we ask that all visitors and volunteers sign in with our Security Officer, Paula Rawlins at the main entrance. After you sign in, you will be given a pass, which must be visible during your visit. Please return the pass to Ms Rawlins on your way out. If you are stopping by to bring your child a forgotten lunch or school project, you must also sign in. Please come directly to the Main Office – Room 225. We will deliver the item to your child. It is helpful for the office staff if you write your child’s name and teacher on the item.

I miss this school and all the teachers. I hope the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades did good on the math test. My test will be over tomorrow! I hope I see you all soon!
Amirah is a former student of PS 51 - Class of 2008. It is always good to hear from the alumni. Keep in touch Amirah. We would love to see you.

Ah, I remember the good ol’ days of P.S. 51. I still see a lot of the teachers that taught me are still there (Ms. Catechis, Ms. Garcia…I remember Ms. Jackson, I see Ms. Nieves in the photo on the homepage). I hope one day I can find time to come visit, so many things have changed since I graduated (1998).

I attended PS 51 in the mid-1950s. I cherish my memories of some wonderful teachers who encouraged me in my love for reading. One teacher in particular, would lend books all the time. As soon as new library books arrived, she would call me over to pick one. For a book lover even at that early age, her generosity meant so much. English was my second language. By the time I graduated from PS 51 I had an 8th grade reading level thanks to those that let me know they believed in me. Attending PS 51 was a memorable experience for me.

I am a former student of Ms. Arguelles in 1982-83. She was the best teacher I had as a student. She molded us into the great citizens we turned out to be. Now, I am a second grade teacher in NYC and I owe some of my success to her. Thank you Ms. Arguelles.
