Giselle Leon, Recipient of Third Annual Housing Conservation Coordinators Volunteer and Leadership Award. Giselle Leon, our Parent Coordinator was honored for her demonstration of exceptional commitment and leadership in helping to further the mission of protecting safe, decent and affordable housing on Manhattan’s West Side. The award was presented at a ceremony on Friday, October 24, 2008 at the Top of the Times Hotel.

Click here to view photos of Community Board 4’s Land Use Committe Meeting which was held at PS 51 on Wednesday, June 11, 2008. This meeting was attended by many 51 parents in the hopes of drawing attention to the problem of overcrowding and the inadequate space at 51. Look on page 2 of the photos to view pictures of our principal and our parents.

Click here to view photos of the PS 51 Ballroom Dance Team. On Monday, June 9th, 2008 our 4th and 5th graders competed in the quarterfinals held at PS 33. The students were sizzling but not from the scorching 96° temperature. They were burning up the dance floor with their moves. They danced the fox trot, meringue, swing, rumba and the tango. The parents, teachers and friends broke out in jubilation when it was announced that we had won the gold ribbon. What a wonderful way to begin School Spirit Week! The next step was the semifinal competition on Wednesday, June 11th. The team won the silver medal.
