PS 51 The Elias Howe School

The goal of PS 51 is to reach 100% attendance. Research indicates that there is a strong correlation between attendance and academic achievement. Good attendance is essential to success in school. Parents are asked to please schedule family vacations to coincide with the school calendar. We do recognize that there are times of illness and family emergencies that require a child to be absent from school. If your child is ill, or will be absent for any reason, please call the school. If an absence is not reported, we will call you. This is an extra safety precaution for your child. Please send in a written excuse every time your child is absent or tardy even if you have called the school. We greatly appreciate your support in this matter.
