Rosie’s Kid’s Foundation provides outstanding programs for all the students of P.S. 51.

Spotlight on Fitness - Is an extension of Rosie’s Broadway Kids for The focus of Spotlight on Fitness is to teach students about health and nutrition through movement and dance. The program also incorporates aspects of our math and literacy curriculum. This program takes place once per week in addition to our one period of gym class.

Rosie’s Broadway Kids - The 5th grade is involved in Rosie O’Donnell’s program of song and dance. Students receive a rich theater education working with professional choreographers, and vocal teachers. At the end of the program, students perform a choreographed theater number they have learned. The final component of the program is attending a Broadway show. Students have had the opportunity to see Lion King, Mary Poppins or Fiddler on the Roof. and talk to cast members after the performance. 

Other Programs

CookShop Program - First and second graders explore and cook healthy nutritious fruits and vegetables. Food Change, a program of the Department of Agriculture funds this program.

Striking Vikings - A Theater Education Program
Our 2nd-4th Grade classes will participate in this program where actors adapt and perform stories written by the students themselves. This is a way of celebrating the words and ideas of young people and a way to promote literacy. This is program is funded by UPS.

American Ballroom Dancing - 4th and 5th graders are taught the Foxtrot, Swing, Tango, Cha-cha and others. A competition is held in the spring among many public schools in New York City. In 2009, we won a silver medal in the semi-final competition.
